PIN Debit

PIN debit transactions occur when a customer swipes or dips their debit card through a credit card terminal and then enters a Personal Identification Number (PIN) on a keypad in order to verify the transaction. These transactions are commonly initiated when the customer chooses to run the swiped card as “debit.” PIN based sales are the most secure for merchants and typically are the cheapest.

Many merchant service providers have not developed their equipment to be EMV compatible and allow PIN based transactions. However, Stax utilizes an innovative manufacturer that has modernized their product to meet the needs of our customers. This “chip-and-pin” solution has allowed merchants to gain the security of accepting chip cards while also keeping their debit pricing.
