Stax Pay Mobile : How to Set Up My ChipperBT Reader for the First Time

In the Box

Inside of the box you will find your bluetooth reader, charging cable, and optional adhesive mount.

Powering Up the ChipperBT Reader

  • Press and Hold down the power button (located on the bottom right hand side) until the reader light comes on.
  • The light indicates battery level of the reader.
    • Green means the device has a sufficient charge.
    • Yellow or Red means the device needs to be charged. 
  • Charge your reader as needed by plugging in the provided USB cord into a charging source and the port on the reader (full charges can take up to 2 hours).

*Please note the device may have trouble connecting if the battery is low.


iOS Users

Connecting Your Reader

Once your reader is fully charged, you will need to pair your reader to your Stax Pay app. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Your reader needs to be fully charged to connect. Skipping this step could cause connection issues.
  2. Install the Stax Pay mobile app.
  3. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  4. Press the Power button on your reader until light displays.
  5. Open and log into the Stax Pay mobile app.
  6. Select the More Options icon (3 stacked lines) to access your Readers.
  7. Select Manage next to Readers.
  8. Tap Connect a Reader (*If you do not see the option to connect a mobile reader, please call Stax Support ASAP for assistance.
  9. The app will then display the reader serial number. Select your serial number.

How to verify your reader is connected:

  1. Tap the More Options icon at the bottom of the App.
  2. Select Readers.
  3. The Reader Information section will generate at the bottom of the page showing the following: 

-Battery Level

-Connected Via

-Address

-Firmware Version


Android Users

Connecting Your Reader

Once your reader is fully charged, you will need to pair your reader to your Stax Mobile app. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Your reader needs to be fully charged to connect. Skipping this step could cause connection issues.
  2. Press the Power button on your reader until the light displays.
  3. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  4. Pair your Reader with your phone before logging into the Stax mobile app. 
    1. Go to your phone's settings to select Bluetooth pairing options.
    2. *Note: There will be two available devices to pair.  Select the Reader from the available device list that contains "CHB" in front of the serial number (located on the back of the reader) with a "Phone" icon next to it. 
  5. Install and log into the Stax Mobile App.
  6. Select the More Info icon (3 stacked lines) to access your Readers.
  7. Select Manage next to Readers.
  8. Tap Connect a Reader (*If you do not see the option to connect a mobile reader, please call Stax Support ASAP for assistance).
  9. The app will then display the reader's serial number. Select your serial number.

Once your reader is connected, you can process your first transaction!
