Tokenization

Tokenization is a secure way of storing and using card numbers by replacing the original credit card number with a randomized string of numbers. These random numbers are called a “token.” A tokenization solution captures the card number outside of the merchant’s platform, replacing it with the randomly generated token. The card number is stored securely and the token replaces it.

Tokenized card numbers are PCI compliant, and you can securely store them and use them in transactions. Because the numbers are totally random, they’re useless to hackers.

Using tokenization keeps you as a merchant compliant with PCI standards of handling cardholder data. By securely storing payment information, you’ll be able to set up recurring billing for your customers.

Fattmerchant tokenizes all payments to maintain Level 1 PCI compliance, the highest level of compliance available.
